I've been a financial advisor since 1990, and what keeps me in this work is simple: I love helping people reach their ideal lifestyles. That happens when someone has the freedom to dream about what they really want—whether that's retirement or something else entirely—and then we build a step-by-step plan to get them there. The best part of my job is watching clients stay focused on that plan and actually achieve what they truly value.

When clients are given permission to dream, the lifestyles and futures they envision are amazing. My role is to help them get there through disciplined financial and investment planning, and then help them enjoy what they've built. Being able to tell someone they've reached their goals and can live the life they've always wanted—that's what makes this work so rewarding.

I grew up in Miami, and saltwater fishing was a huge part of my life. My first trip into the Gulf Stream was when I was eight years old. My dad, our next-door neighbor Speed, and I were about 40 miles off the coast in my dad's 20-foot fiberglass boat. After an hour or so of trolling, Speed shoved his deep-sea fishing pole into my arms. Next thing I knew, my line started singing as a big bull dolphin tried to take all my line from the reel. That fish looked enormous to me—probably 35 or 40 pounds, but I'm sure he looked bigger than I was. I fought him for what felt like forever, but eventually he broke the line. What a rush! I was hooked on saltwater fishing from that moment on. The beauty of that kind of fishing is that you never know what you can pull up from a vast ocean. And I'm pretty sure by the time I got home, my fish had grown from 40 pounds to 100 pounds in my retelling. These days, I live in Denver. Colorado is beautiful, and the weather is fantastic, especially in the fall and spring. If I could choose to live anywhere, I'd choose Colorado.

My wife, Cheryl, has been incredibly faithful and supportive throughout my career. Our financial planning business has given us wonderful opportunities to enjoy life with our kids—Dustin, Ashley, and Ty. I love to golf, even though the game can torture my mind sometimes. I enjoy reading, traveling, and discovering new adventures. And I'm grateful for my church family at Trinity Anglican.

I earned my CFP® designation in 1988 and offer securities and investment advisory services through Géneos Wealth Management, Inc., a member of FINRA/SIPC.
